The Tuxedo Winter Farmers’ Market returns this month, so look for fresh eggs and homegrown meats, craft candles from Sloatsburg’s own Lazy Candle and Ol’ Darlin’ soaps and salves at the Tuxedo Train Station Saturday. The Winter Market gathers at 10 a.m and runs through 2 p.m.
Blooming Hill Farms will be on hand with a nice quaint farm stand full of bundled fresh and seasonal vegetables, including green and garlic and original pickled peppers.
Liberty Rock Trail
Here’s a follow up on the recent fantastic work done at Sloatsburg’s Liberty Rock Park trailhead by New York/New Jersey Trail Conference volunteers, led by Trail Chair for West of the Hudson John Mack.
An anonymous volunteer installed the new Liberty Rock trailhead sign on Friday afternoon above the steps Mack and crew built last week.
The whole Liberty Rock Park effort has co-ordinated by Kathy Goldman (Ol’ Darlin’) and Geoff Welch, who have worked to locate, clear and maintain the 1/4 mile trail which culminates in a picturesque view overlooking Harmony Hall and central Sloatsburg.
The newly installed Liberty Rock Park trailhead sign was commissioned by wood artist Jennifer Leonard, who also created a custom Tuxedo Farmers’ Market sign out of the same crate wood.
The trailhead sign was paid for by The Friends of Harmony Hall and .includes a hand rendered picture of a Red-tailed hawk – one of which is rumored to be attempting to nest at the Sloatsburg Library. Go figure.
