The drama crowd from Suffern High School will put on their boots and bonnets next week as they audition for this year’s Spring Musical, which will be the Rogers and Hammerstein classic Broadway musical Oklahoma!
Kathy Muenz, owner of the popular Dance Loft studio in Suffern above the Lafayette Theater, will direct this year’s musical. Muenz and company, with music direction by Daniel McCarter, will tackle the popular Broadway musical and 1950s movie about the range wars in the new Territories out west in the U.S. just after the turn of the century, including Oklahoma.
Territory folks should stick together,
Territory folks should all be pals.
Oh, the famer and the cowman should be friends.
Many consider the play to mark the actual birth of the American musical because it stitched together a true narrative with song and dance.
Oklahoma! auditions will be held in the Suffern High School auditorium Tuesday, December 17 (singing), and Wednesday, December 18 (dancing). Call backs are scheduled for Thursday, December 19.
