Geoff Welch usually welcomes the seasons in Sloatsburg at Harmony Hall with a vernal equinox or solstice program. This year was different. There was no spring celebration in the parlor, complete with poetry and song and perhaps a blessed from Cindy Fountain.
This year’s March Vernal Equinox was lost to our common quarantine.
No matter. The folks at Harmony Hall have produced a spring greeting message, complete with original music, photos and performance by Geoff Welch and a calming voice-over narrative from Marianne Carroll (with text provided by Welch).
The whole piece was put together by Alexandria Evans, who is known locally for her good work with the Suffern Chamber of Commerce and works closely with Sloatsburg Village, Explore Harriman, the Sloatsburg Chamber, and Harmony Hall.
Carroll’s dulcet words of spring set to Welch’s music were such a hit that the trio will combine efforts to produce a Summer Solstice effort for Harmony Hall.
But fans of Carroll can interact with her sooner than that as she is set to host an astrology class online via Zoom for the Sloatsburg Public Library on May 14. The special library-sponsored program will see Carroll share the goods from her particular wheelhouse during with the Language of Astrology: Introducing Symbols of the Zodiac workshop (which will be a live class via Zoom).
People who sign up for the class will get an access code/link sent to them by email before the event.
Carroll, a Sloatsburg resident and board member for the Friends of Harmony Hall, will be discuss symbols of astrology and how “the heavens” help shape and reflect an individual’s life. She will also provide star chart readings for some participants.
