It’s been 30 years now that Sloatsburg’s celebrated the turning of the leaves in October with a good old fashioned Halloween parade.
This coming Saturday, October 24, will be the 30th Annual Halloween Parade that gathers at the entrance to the Community Fields and makes its way through the center village to Sloatsburg Elementary School.
The sky should clear but look for a dip in temperature this weekend.
The walk through Sloatsburg is a tradition that brings residents together for costume and float contests. The parade then makes its way down Rt. 17 to Sloatsburg Elementary School, led by the the Suffern High School Marching Band. The costume and float prizes are worth the entry, topping out at $200 apiece for Best Group, Adult, and Kid’s costumes, as well as Best Float.
Costume judging begins at 4 p.m. at the entrance to the Sloatsburg Community Fields at the intersection of Eagle Valley Road and Rt. 17. The parade itself begins promptly at 5 p.m.
