Veterans Get Holiday Helping Hand in Sloatsburg

Local veterans and those who served in the armed forces will once again get some holiday help with a Christmas food giveaway at Sloatsburg Municipal Building on Saturday, December 19, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Local veterans and those who served in the armed forces will once again get a holiday give with a Christmas turkey and food basket at Sloatsburg Municipal Building on Saturday, December 19, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The Village of Sloatsburg will again join with the Veteran Angels Association to support veterans this holiday season. Sloatsburg’s and other veterans will receive holiday foods Saturday morning, December 19, from 9 a.m. through 11 a.m. at the Sloatsburg Municipal Building. Any local member of the armed services qualifies for the food giveaway.

Giveaway items include a big box with frozen turkey and fixings, complete with desert for Christmas dinner. The Veterans Angels Association is a Rockland County group that helps provide holiday meals for the veteran community — the group also includes trained PTSD, Mobility Assistance Service dogs for Veterans of the US Armed Forces.

The Sloatsburg Volunteer Fire Department will help with Saturday’s holiday meal giveaway setup. All food donations have been provided by private contributions, said Sloatsburg Mayor Carl Wright.
