Updated for Thursday — Sloatsburg Traffic Bulletin: Crews worked until nearly 9 p.m. Wednesday evening installing steel girders that were lifted into place at the Thruway overpass construction site along Seven Lakes Drive at Washington Street. The 180 foot steel abutment beams were set in place on the new overpass span by construction cranes stationed in the Thruway median, where traffic on the Thruway was slowed periodically during the day by State Police.
Currently, the steel beams put into place Wednesday can be seen spanning the Thruway overpass section. The new single overpass span is now clearly visible.
Any additional traffic stops along Seven Lakes Drive will again take place after 10 a.m. The stops may occur at 20 minute intervals while the final girders are unloaded and set in place Thursday. The planned work will take place after morning bus traffic and should be complete before 5 p.m. traffic.
After the beam abutment work, installation of the new overpass span will begin. By early to mid summer, the old overpass spans are scheduled to be dismantled, with the entire highway project being finally completed later in the year.
