Just like much of the Village itself, the Sloatsburg Public Library has been undergoing renovation and renewal over the past several years, especially this year.
From a new roof and fresh coat of colorful paint to the restoration and remodeling of much of the Library’s interior space. The Sloatsburg Library was one of only 11 libraries in the 47 member Ramapo Catskills Library System to receive a New York State construction grant this past year, thanks to the advocacy and persistence of Library Manager Annmarie McAnany.

Sloatsburg Library Manager Annmarie McAnany was lauded at a recent Village of Sloatsburg Board meeting for her outstanding library revitalization efforts — especially noted was the creation of the new Teen Room, dedicated to kids 6th grade through 12th.
The Teen Room has a fun monochrome checked diner theme, complete with two comfortable booths for study, stools and full multi-media capabilities — perfect for gaming and watching movies. Sloatsburg seniors 55+ are also invited to use the dedicated room any day before 2:30 p.m. for meetings or other social activities.
McAnany has proven savvy at procuring grant funding for important project, including the recent construction grant that paid for the new Teen Room, restoration of the Chapel room’s new wood plank flooring, fresh paint throughout the library interior, redesigned shelving, a quiet room, and renovated bathrooms.
McAnany has also worked closely with New York State Senator David Carlucci’s office for a generator grant that will qualify the Sloatsburg Library as a limited emergency shelter once it’s installed.
