The last couple of weeks Cub Scout Pack 46, which includes kids from Sloatsburg and Tuxedo, has been on an activity tear.
At the end of September the pack met at the Eagle Valley Firehouse and caravaned down to Field Station Dinosaurs for a look around a prehistoric themed experience nestled near the New Jersey Meadowlands. Then over the weekend, the pack took on Sterling Forest for a rambling hike in the woods.
The hike included a visit to the old ruins of the iron mine in Tuxedo, in use from 1735 through 1923, and then headed over to Sterling Tower, taking in the scenic view. The pack hiked back to Sterling Lake and shifted activities to Murphy Field for its annual kick-off camp out. The evening’s festivities were watched over by a big ol’ Harvest Moon.
Thursday, October 4 the pack will take part in the Rockland District Fall Cub Campfire that takes place at Camp Bullowa in Stony Point, a rain or moonlight event. Later this month, members of the pack will take in the Army/Ball State football game for Army Football Scout Day.
Tuxedo Cub Scout Pack 46 has been serving boys in the Sloatsburg and Tuxedo communities for the past 20 years, and strives to offer activities and programs that help youngsters learn life skills and disciplines that help along their journeys. Currently, Pack 46 has approximately 30 boys from grades 1 through 5.
