Members of the Sloatsburg Volunteer Fire Department greet Sloatsburg’s new 78′ Aerial Ladder Truck, which was delivered to the Village at the beginning of December 2016.
The sky was still lit up with colorful clouds on the recent Friday evening that Sloatsburg’s new 78′ Aerial Ladder Truck arrived in the village Municipal Lot. Word of mouth spread as members of the Sloatsburg Fire Department made their way over to Village Hall to take a look at the department’s first ever ladder truck.
The 78′ Ladder Truck, along with an on-order new rescue/pumper truck, will allow the department to meet nearly all of its firefighting needs – for now and into the future. Continue Reading

Most Wednesday afternoons you could find Mary Nattini sitting next to her dear sister Rose at a table in the the expansive dining hall of the Sloatsburg Senior Center. The dynamic duo were for many years the social centerpiece of their table. As Mary’s health began to fail, Rose watched over her, ensuring that Mary enjoyed her afternoons among longtime friends. The effort to head off the 178 mile proposed Pilgrim Pipelines have galvanized New York and New Jersey communities both large and small. Pilgrim Holdings, LLC, a closely held company with institutional back for the pipeline project, is planning to use NYS Thruway right-of-way for 79% of the double pipeline construction. The rest of the land will run through parcels of private and other community property. Continue Reading

Rockland Peak Performance under co-owner Nunzio Signore’s leadership has become a powerhouse in the strength and conditioning field. RPP, located at the south entrance of Sloatsburg, NY, just added 4,500 square feet of space.
Nunzio Signore is building quite a strength and conditioning sports performance facility just outside Sloatsburg along Route 17. Since Signore got Rockland Peak Performance rolling in 2012, the facility has become a beacon for team and individual fitness training. Continue Reading

The Blue Barn Market in Sloatsburg has been open weekends and will soon close for the season, scheduled to open again in the spring or summer 2017.
When all is said and done, Michael Bruno has already made a material difference in the Village of Sloatsburg. He bought a few properties and opened a quaint farm stand, sure. But he has also offered a picture of a kind of future for Sloatsburg as a destination for hikers and bikers, where people from New York and throughout the Hudson Valley visit the village and stay a moment — instead of speeding through while glancing at boarded up buildings. The Sloatsburg Volunteer Ambulance Corps arrived Tuesday morning to the scene on Waldron Terrace in Sloatsburg, where near midnight the Sloatsburg Fire Department discovered a burned man (who died at the scene) by a car on fire.
The Town of Ramapo Police have called the midnight car fire at the end of Waldron Terrace in Sloatsburg “definitely suspicious.” Continue Reading

The Robert and Mary McCready House on Route 17 in north Sloatsburg, also known as Westwind, was built in 1889 and is currently being restored to its former prominence by Edward Marse. The home is listed on the New York and National Registers of Historic Places, only the 3rd Sloatsburg residence to be listed.
Sloatsburger Ed Marse has nearly always had an interest in antiques and local history. Marse often visited the old Blue Barn Antiques while growing up, searching through the many valuables stored in the 70 foot long former livery barn on the Waldron property — currently under renovation by Michael Bruno and the Tuxedo Hudson Company.
