The Village of Sloatsburg has been busy a number of major improvement and maintenance projects that taken together will have lasting impacts on local quality of life.
2017 has been a year of both planning and execution. Projects underway include major sewer and road improvement plans, delivery of two new fire trucks and the construction of a substation to house them in, community pool upgrades and the recently completed resurfacing of tennis courts at the Community Fields. NYSDOT Region 8 will host Sloatsburg’s Complete Streets Public Workshop II – Concept Evaluation on Thursday, April 27, at 7:30 p.m. at Village Hall.
Whether from curiosity or to make a contribution, Sloatsburgers showed up en masse at the first Complete Streets Public Workshop. The meeting was hosted by a team from the New York Department of Transportation Region 8 and focused on an open conversation about community transportation issues along Route 17. Continue Reading

Just say no to buses, trucks and cars whizzing through Sloatsburg’s village center. The NYS DOT has offered residents a transformative opportunity to participate in a Complete Streets Main Street Project that will re-imagine Route 17 through Sloatsburg.
Now is the time for Village of Sloatsburg residents to get up, get involved and get excited.
The cry for traffic calming, safe passage and turning Route 17 into more of a Main Street that provides Sloatsburg with safe pedestrian walkways and “village feel” has been heard. Loud and clear. Continue Reading
