The Sloatsburg Fire Department’s recent colorful mid-August Classic Car Show featured a special guest bearing a great gift.
Rockland U.S. Congresswoman Nita Lowey made an appearance at the car show and gathered firefighters together, including Village Trustee Peter Akey, to announce that Sloatsburg’s volunteer fire department was the recipient of a 2013 FEMA Assistance to Firefighter Grant (AFG) for radio equipment. Tuxedo Reserve: What It Means For Rockland County is an Executive’s Corner op-ed published in April from Rockland County Executive Ed Day’s office. The Day administration met with Town of Tuxedo and Related Companies decision-makers on the topic of connecting Tuxedo Farms/Reserve into the Rockland County Sewer District 1’s Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant in Hillburn, NY. The sun shone bright and hot Sunday as people from across Ramapo, and beyond, gathered to celebrate the huge new medicine garden in Torne Valley. Covering half an acre, the Ford Motor Company built a large, raw-post and fenced-in garden that will feature Sweet Grass for basketry and smudging as well as herbs and other native plants.
