The kids are alright – Suffern Middle School 8th graders, that is. The annual trip to the nations capitol is finishing up its last day on Friday, May 15.

Election day is around the corner, coming this Tuesday, November 4. Rockland’s congressional District 17 representative, Democrat Nita Lowey, has found herself in a tougher race than first anticipated. Chris Day, son of Rockland County Executive Ed Day, has shown himself to be a nimble and tireless political opponent, using digital media to offset Lowey’s huge campaign financial advantage to communicate his message. The Sloatsburg Fire Department’s recent colorful mid-August Classic Car Show featured a special guest bearing a great gift.
Rockland U.S. Congresswoman Nita Lowey made an appearance at the car show and gathered firefighters together, including Village Trustee Peter Akey, to announce that Sloatsburg’s volunteer fire department was the recipient of a 2013 FEMA Assistance to Firefighter Grant (AFG) for radio equipment.
