Suffern Summer Gazebo Music Series Starts

Posted on 28 June 2017 by Editor

The Village of Suffern’s Avon Park may be small but it certainly is a vital community space. Wednesday evening, June 28, kicks off the Virginia Menschner Gazebo semi-weekly Summer Music Series, which itself serves up country, big band, a cappella, the a family concert.

The Virginia Menschner Gazebo semi-weekly Summer Music Series at Avon Park in Suffern, NY, kicks off Wednesday evening with Country Fresh at 7 p.m. The show is free.

Programmed by the Suffern Recreation Department, the concert series is a nicely evolving use of public space along Lafayette that acts as a community nexus of sorts. Music at the park has served a wide audience, from featuring high school bands to seasonal music to popular tastes. Community parades and activities all seem to flow in and around Avon Park. The Summer Concert Series shows are free, as are other Avon Park events.

Country Fresh plays the Virginia Menschner Gazebo in Avon Park Monday evening beginning at 7 p.m. Doesn’t look like rain, but in case of rain, concerts will be held inside the Suffern Community Center at 41 Washington Avenue.

The 2017 Summer schedule of concerts goes something like this: Wednesday, June 28, Country Fresh serving up country; Thursday, July 13, will be the big band jazz of Reflections; Wednesday, July 26, sees Magic Touch do its a cappella oldies; and Monday, July 31, Kurt Gallagher ends the season with a family oriented children’s concert.
