Monday night high achieving Suffern High School seniors will celebrate the annual Evening of Excellence awards program at Suffern High School’s William L. Ransom auditorium. Dozens of scholarships will be awarded, both large and small, covering art, education, law enforcement, nursing, and public service.
There will be scholarships for academic achievement, athletic excellence, good citizenship, leadership, compassion for others, and even perseverance in overcoming personal or learning challenges.
Sloatsburg will also be featured in the evening’s award fare, as the Sloatsburg Scholarship Fund will award several scholarships directed specifically for Sloatsburg students.
The Evening of Excellence takes place Monday, June 1, at 7 p.m.

For the Suffern Girls Lacrosse team and many individuals on the Suffern track team, the final push of the season has led them to the state competition. The same can be said of the Suffern Economics Club, which also made a strong showing the New York State Economics Challenge that involved 21 teams and was sponsored by the National Council for Economic Education.
And the Suffern Girls Lacrosse team defeated the Guilderland Dutchmen in Saturday’s regional final to advance to the state semi-finals on Friday, June 5, in Cortland vs. Pittsford.

Should we be concerned that Kam McIntosh ran a faster split than one of the Boys legs on the winning 4x800m of 8:03? — MileSplit NY (@MileSplitNY) May 30, 2015
Senior Imani Solan continued her incredible high school career, helping the Mountie girls team dethrone 3x champ New Rochelle and take top honors in Section Class A track. Solan won the 100 meters, 200 meters and anchored the girls’ winning 4×100 relay — and will compete at state in all of those events. Sophomore sensation Kamryn McIntosh won the 400 and 800 meters, and anchored the girls’ champion 4×800 relay team
The Suffern Girls Track team completed the trifecta this year, winning league, county and sectional championships. Now Albany awaits in the coming weeks.
