If strings are your thing, the Tuxedo Performing Arts Group will present “A Celebration of Summer Strings and Song” at St. Mary’s-In-Tuxedo Episcopal in Tuxedo this coming Saturday. Tuxedo Performing Arts Group (TPAG) will sponsor a strings and song concert that combines talented professional vocalists and musicians with the 50 member Jubilate Youth Choir, which hails from Warwick, NY.
Jubilate students perform both locally and in a wider area, including New York City, Carnegie Hall and St. Paul’s Chapel at Ground Zero. The Saturday, June 7, 6:30 p.m. program will display the Jubilate Choir’s musical versatility, demonstrating styles from classical to choreographed show tunes in four voice parts. Jubilate is a co-ed choir based in Warwick, NY, and directed by David Crone with Steven Wing assisting and accompanying. The group is composed of singers from the 4th through the 12th grade who audition for a spot in the choir.
General admission tickets for Saturday’s concert cost $20 while students tickets are $10. A reception will follow the concert.
TPAG is a non-profit that works in the Tuxedo community to support and promote musical and cultural events via concerts and performances by upcoming or top ranking artists in a variety of musical fields. One of TPAG’s missions is to make the events accessible to all community residents.
Professional vocal soloists singing in the concert are Jody Weatherstone, soprano; Brian Gens, tenor; and Steven Wing bass. The Schubert String Quartet, comprising Laura Grecco violin, Sarah Tusch violin, Piotr Kargul viola, Greg Phillips cello, will open the program with the Andante from Schubert’s String Quartet no.13 in A minor [Rosamunde] and combine with organ, Jimrae Lenser, the vocal soloists and the full Jubilate Choir to perform Schubert’s Mass in G.
