The Sloatsburg UMC Food Pantry will be part of a holiday fundraiser when the Rockland County Concert Band plays at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Tuxedo this coming weekend.
“A free-will offering will be received for the benefit of the Food Pantry,” said St. Mary’s Rector the Rev. Elizabeth McWhorter, adding: “All are invited and encouraged to bring a friend or two.”
One of Rockland County’s longtime cultural treasures, the 50 memeber Rockland County Concert Band, will entertain with a special repertoire of seasonal music at St. Mary’s on Saturday, December 13, at 6 p.m. The concert will be followed by a reception.
Reverend Elizabeth McWhorter, who serves as Rector at St. Mary’s-In-Tuxedo Episcopal Church, said five local churches that support the Food Pantry have joined to sponsor the event and include St. Elizabeth’s off Eagle Valley, St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church in Sloatsburg; Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, at Lafayette in Tuxedo, and the pantry’s home base partner, Sloatsburg’s own United Methodist Church.
The Sloatsburg Food Pantry serves community members and residents in the Ramapo Central and Tuxedo Free School Districts.
Proceeds from the evening’s offering will benefit the Food Pantry and benefit those in the in the community in need of food assistance.
One dollar equals at least two to four meals the Food Pantry can purchase, depending on menu selections of course.
