Lower water at Mirror Lake in the Pine Grove Lakes neighborhood means spring cleaning is already underway. Usually done in late spring, with sustained warmer weather, dredging and other lake repairs are being done now. This seasonal work is a prelude to the lake opening in late spring for the summer swimming season. Under normal conditions, Mirror Lake’s placid waters lap sandy shores and is used by residents throughout the year as a recreational lake. The smaller of two lakes in the Pine Grove neighborhood, the lake catches runoff from Pine Grove Lake, or the upper lake, which in turn catches runoff from the surrounding Torne Mountain watershed.
The lake traditionally opens for swimming for residents and guests the day after school ends. Pine Grove will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt March 31 on The Green, a square block village green in the neighborhood that’s a gathering place for events and activities. Pine Grove also welcomes David Coke as new president of the homeowners association. He replaces David McQuillan who, as president, was instrumental in reinvigorating the association’s activities and enhancements to the neighborhood.
