Sushi has come to Sloatsburg. The new Village center Sushiville is now open for business and the early word is that all is good.
Locals who have tried the restaurant’s lunch specials report back that they were served goodly-sized portions of fun and tasty food. Even a few Yelp reviews give the new eatery the thumbs up.
Sushi Ville’s expertise at this early stage is its lunch and dinner specials — which look good enough to eat up.
You can find standard sushi fare from tempura and noodles to sushi, sashimi, fried rice dishes, and even a Taste of Korea — a complete departure for many. The restaurant is open most days after 12 p.m. Lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., except on Sundays. Phone is 845-712-5006.
Sushivillage prices may be a bit on the high side for some for certain dishes, perhaps a reflection of the cost of Sloatsburg strip mall occupancy.
But sushi staples are all right there and competitive.
The Sloatsburg market itself is certainly a sort of Village eyesore. A more authentic architectural design would have served the community better than that fabulous bunker style construction. More features that fit the area’s historical and cultural narrative could have been built into the market to better serve commercial and community interests. A little local color and character goes a long way.
More stone, more wood, well placed historical elements, visual style.
