Now that the holiday meal has been digested along with most of the leftovers, here’s a look at some of Sloatsburg’s recent moody weather.

With ice storms in the midwest, give a few thanks for these late dulcet days of November. From blue sky spring to morning fog, it’ll soon be back to cold, ground hardening December.

Local photographer Geoff Welch caught a few images around Sloatsburg, including the rarely seen view of the face of Torne Mountain.

“George Washington was reported by oral tradition to have been guided to the top of Torne Mountain by a son of Widow Sidman who ran the oldest Tavern in the Ramapo Pass. During the Revolutionary War Sidman’s Tavern served as officers housing for the troops at the entrenchments down the valley at Camp Ramapough, protecting the entrance to the Ramapo Pass throughout the war.” — Geoff Welch
