Teams gather Friday morning, June 10, at Sloatsburg Elementary School for the annual Olympic Day — a day celebrating sportsmanship and community, with morning-long contests marked by a parent/student picnic lunch.

Sponsored by the Ramapo Valley Rotary and other Sloatsburg businesses, Olympic Day features a series of student competitions. Different grades and classes represent an assortment of countries from around the world and wear colorful t-shirts that reflect their country.
The day of competition ends with a tug-of-war contest and then an an overall champion is crowned.

Thursday SES students welcomed Sloatsburg Mayor Carl Wright as featured guest for its Flag Day Assembly, a day designated to reflect upon “Old Glory” and the various ceremonies and traditions surrounding the significance of the flag.
