With Cinco de Mayo and Mother’s Day on the horizon, the Sloatsburg Library has a few fun events planned. The library’s recent website launch party was a well-attended success thanks to the many local library lovers who made a showing. The site’s nifty calendar event listings, powered by Constant Contact, allows patrons to sign up and register for events with just a click.
Congratulations go out to Pine Grove Lakes resident Lucie Coke, who was recently named Trustee for a vacant seat on the Sloatsburg Library Board of Trustees.
Monday, May 5, nutritious Cinco de Mayo burritos are on the menu as author Karen Ranzi will give a quick course in how to prepare easy fresh foods that are taste good and are, well, good for you. The event takes place at 6:30 p.m.
Wednesday, May 7, it’s time to make a Mother’s Day gift for mom, nana, grandma, or that someone special. Join in the fun — the event is for ages six and up and starts at 6 p.m.
The library’s launch party for its new website saw many Sloatsburg Library Trustees stop by ad show support — as well as several Village Trustees.
With its leap into the digital age, the library is making an effort to reach and communicate to the community about its various ongoing activities and events.
“The new calendar listing allows us to send out emails directly to patrons and let them know when we have programs and activities that might interest them,” said Annmarie McAnany, head of the library’s children services as well as library Assistant Manager. “We had people sign up for programs who haven’t actually been in to the library in a long time, which is great!”
The Sloatsburg Library has seven board members who serve seven year terms. Several terms will expire at the end of this year. If you are a Sloatsburg resident and would like to participate in helping steer the library, contact the Village office at 845-753-2727.
