An announcement came over the Ramapo Central School District email blackboard this past Friday. Sloatsburg Elementary School Principal Eric Baird will be moving on and over to Cherry Lane, beginning in July.

The news came from Ramapo Central Superintendent Dr. Douglas Adams through the district’s internal parent email communication system known as Blackboard — the district uses the system to communicate news to whole segments of parents and staff.

Baird took over at Sloatsburg Elementary School some five years ago after the long tenure of Principal Ron Anagnostis, who served at the school for  twenty two years. Sloatsburg is Baird’s first stop as a principal — he served the Wappinger School District in Duchess County as an assistant principal before landing at Sloatsburg. Dr. Adams said Principal Baird’s focus on student achievement was an important factor in the superintendent’s decision to install him as Cherry Lane’s permanent principal beginning in the 2014-15 school year.
