libraryfallfestivalSloatsburg’s village center will be alive with the sounds of music and more all weekend.

The Sloatsburg Public Library hosts its first ever Fall Festival & Flea Market Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring an afternoon of country music from Nash East, the Hip Replacements and Dave Dowling. There will be tables laden with foods, craft goods and other items.

fallfestival2The festival is an event that Library Manager Annmarie McAnany has wanted to hold for several years and this September proved the perfect time, with the whole Suffern, Sloatsburg and Tuxedo corridor lighting up with activity. The Fall Festival is presented by the Friends of the Sloatsburg Library.

McAnany envisions the festival as an extension of the library serving as a focus for the Sloatsburg community. It allows the library to take an active role in providing family entertainment for Sloatsburg, while re-introducing villagers to the many services the Sloatsburg Library provides.

The whole day is focused on family and fun and will include free family portraits, pumpkin decorating and other activities.

The almanac says Saturday is certain to have clear blue skies with a slight dip in temperature at sundown, which should prove perfect for sky watching. The Library will host a special Harvest Moon viewing for International Observe the Moon Night from 7 – 9 p.m. There will be a high powered telescope for detailed viewing of the first quarter moon rise. Kids will also learn all about the moon. Ages 5+.

During a celebration of all the activity suddenly lighting up the corridor towns and villages, make sure you visit the Sloatsburg Library’s Fall Festival.
