The ragged Rockland County roads are in the middle of some much needed TLC as the call to fix potholes has echoed from village to town.
NY State Senator David Carlucci, D-New City, put out the work Monday, February 24, for residents to report potholes to the NY DOT. Residents can report potholes to the NYDOT at 1-800-Pothole.
By Wednesday morning, Town of Ramapo Supervisor Christopher St. Lawrence had swung into action, complete with a newly minted Twitter handle for residents to report pothole: @CSLPotHoleAlert.
But the handle is no gimmick. Supervisor St. Lawrence actually launched a social media campaign for residents to report potholes, with instructions to give specific locations so the Ramapo Highway Department go head and out to fill them up — double time.
Our crews out in force today. We anticipate majority, if not all, potholes reported yesterday can be repaired today, weather permitting.

Repaired all but 14 of 38 reported potholes. Also Washington, Jackson, Buchanan, Camp Hill, Blauvelt, Emes, Albert, Sylvan and Eastview.

Even the Ramapo Highway Department’s Twitter handle is sparkly new, just launched today. Nice response to a seasonal resident complaint.
