Most Power Restored To Sloatsburg

Posted on 05 November 2012 by Editor

On Monday morning all appeared nearly back to normal in Sloatsburg, with attention starting to focus on Tuesday’s election.

A convoy of emergency response trucks rolled through the Sloatsburg and Tuxedo area over the weekend to chop back trees and clear power lines, with crews from as far away as Louisiana working on repairing power.

Then Monday morning, the Sloatsburg Department of Public Works crew began cleaning up and clearing away tree branches and debris left behind. The DPW will continue to move through the village this week, ensuring roads and storm drains are clear, in preparation for more foul weather — predicted to hit in the next few days.

Suddenly, the gas lines at the Super Seven are gone. Late last week and throughout the weekend cars snaked through the central village, with lines backing up from the Super Seven all the way north to Seven Lakes Drive. Monday morning Rt. 17 appeared normal again, with lines of cars moving from light to light driving to work.

Sunday evening, after tree crews cleared lines, O&R trucks moved in with high beam lights blazing and completed line repairs, returning power to Pine Grove Lakes at about 8 p.m. There are still a few areas of Sloatsburg down around the neighborhood across from Sloatsburg Elementary School.
