The rains and winds have died down, bringing chill and true Halloween weather to the Hudson Valley. Celebrate Saturday when the Village of Sloatsburg hosts its 31st Annual Halloween Parade. Be sure to dress in costume and dress warm as temperatures will dip down at sunset.
The Sloatsburg tradition brings residents together for costume and floats contests, with everyone then walking down Route 17 to Sloatsburg Elementary School, serenaded by the Suffern High School Marching Band. The costume and float prizes are worth the entry, topping out at $200 apiece for Best Adult, Group and Float. Best Kid’s costumes wins $100.
Costume judging begins at 4 p.m. at the entrance to the Sloatsburg Community Fields at the intersection of Eagle Valley Road and Route 17. The parade itself begins promptly at 5 p.m.
And your new groovy tap room, Seven Lakes Station, features the closet seats to the street action, with special Happy Hour pumpkin beer at $5. Seven Lakes will also hold its own special costume contest, along with house specials throughout the evening.
