Local social media networks lit up Friday as Adam Sandler ambled down Lafayette Avenue in Suffern, filming scenes for the latest Noah Baumbach movie.
Baumbach’s movie, tentatively named Yeh Din Ka Kissa and also referred to as The Meyerowitz Stories, features Emma Thompson, Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler, Dustin Hoffman, and Grace Van Patten. Several of the film’s cast, including Thompson, were on the avenue shooting scenes near familiar shops and businesses.
In the movie, the Hoffman character is patriarch of a family coming together for a gallery retrospective of his work and a charged family gathering.

Baumbach is a Brooklyn born independent director known for his searing family dramas — see the Squid and the Whale, Margot at the Wedding or While We’re Young — which also starred Ben Stiller. Baumbach also co-wrote with Wes Anderson the spectacular stop-motion Fantastic Mr. Fox.
On an overcast, blustery day, Sandler was generous with local fans, politely taking plenty of selfies and pictures for those gathered. Sloatsburgers Kara Garcia, Jayne Goldman, and Chris Cella were excited to get a picture with Sandler.
The Baumbach movie will continue to shoot in and around Sloatsburg Saturday and probably thereafter.
Even Suffern Police Chief and Ramapo Central School Board member Clarke Osborn got in on the action.
