The Sloatsburg Public Library has just completed a much-needed and welcome upgrade to its public access computer center. This week Ramapo Central Library System (RCLS) technicians installed four new HP desktop computers, with 22″ NEC monitors, that will give the library’s computer center a total of three networked work stations with the latest version of Microsoft Office and three dedicated internet computers for public use. With the upgrade, all equipment in the computer center has been upgraded.
Sloatsburg Library Director Mary Blake said the library experienced a months-long delay in the upgrade due to a shortage in hard drives from HP. The late fall flooding in Thailand wrecked havoc on digital equipment manufacturers worldwide, shutting down Bangkok’s busy business warehouse district that included such manufacturers as Western Digital, Seagate, HP, and Dell.
