Sometimes you find your groove in cultivating a past time, which is the case with Donny Farraro and his act, A Touch of Sinatra. As an old-time music lover, Farraro’s act recounts the life and times of Frank Sinatra through song and stories.
The act weaves a biographical narrative of Frank Sinatra’s life and times with a number of his popular songs, including big hits and obscure, early recordings. The result is an entertaining sort of dinner theater that follows Sinatra from his Hoboken youth through his Vegas years and beyond.
A Touch of Sinatra performs at the Sloatsburg Public Library on Saturday, July 14, at 1 p.m. in the Library’s Community Room. The show is free and open to the public.
The Library will also host it community-based Farmers Market Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A Touch of Sinatra singer Donny Farraro is a stage four cancer survivor and said he never really sang before his cancer. But he took it up because it was something he always wanted to do. Farraro has certainly found his groove.
“He was the best,” said Farraro about Sinatra, who in the 1940s became one of the first cultural American entertainment superstars — by 1941 Sinatra became the country’s number one singer, earning a million dollars that year and securing his place in history.
The show is filled with interesting Sinatra trivia, and keeps a brisk pace with narrative riffs that segue into popular songs such as Summer Wind and Witchcraft.
