The Tuxedo community experienced the passing of one of its own recently. Linda Leghorn, a spirited  light who fought against odds, and gave hope and a message of inspiration to those she met.

You can find more of her story here and here. An energized member of the Tuxedo Chamber of Commerce, the chamber remembered Linda in the following tribute.

With deep regrets we are saddened about the news that Linda Leghorn, a great friend to Tuxedo, our community, and many residents, passed on January 26th, 2014.

Linda was an integral part of the soul of Tuxedo, and was a dear friend to many of us in the business community. Her story is one of courage and inspiration, as she valiantly fought Stage III lung cancer from September, 2009, until today. Linda was the driving force behind Rand RealtyGuardian Realtors and Sam’s Lawn Service, both of which are extremely important members of our Chamber.

In my memory are the heroic efforts of Sam, who, on Linda’s diagnosis, brought in truckload after truckload of sand to their backyard. The Leghorns hosted two Chamber meetings in 2011 and 2012 – more accurately, “Luau’s” – which were the highlights of our year.

“I couldn’t make it to the beach, so he brought the beach to me,” Linda told the Photo News in 2012.

Words cannot describe our regret as we say goodbye to a wonderful human being & a great member of our small but vibrant community.

Our deepest condolences go to her faithful husband, Sam, her children, Robert and Richard, her father, Jack Connelly, her wonderful grandchildren, and everyone in Linda’s life who she touched.

With great respect,

William Sweet
President
Tuxedo Chamber of Commerce
