Bluegrass signs have been popping up around Sloatsburg and the surrounding area. It’s that time of year – when the Friends of Harmony Hall host the annual Highlands Bluegrass Festival on the Great Lawn.
This year marks the 10th year that Harmony Hall has hosted this event that now helps kicks off the fall season for Sloatsburg. The Bluegrass Festival attracts visitors from across the Hudson Valley and surrounding area and is supported by Rockland County Tourism.
The Bluegrass Festival gets underway on Sunday, September 8, with local favorite the Eugene Tyler Band set to open things up at 1 p.m. Moonshine Falls with Blue Plate Special scheduled to close the show. The event has a $10 suggested donation … which helps pay for many of the costs associated with putting on the event. Donations also help with the restoration of Harmony Hall.

The Bluegrass Festival is more than just music. The Defiant Brewery beer truck will be on hand to quench thirsts and also serve up food. There will be a family and kids friendly outdoor tent, supervised and dedicated to kids crafts, face painting and other art activities. Parents attending the Bluegrass Festival are welcome to bring their kids by.
The kids tent is sponsored and free for parents though there will be a tip jar set aside.
The Bluegrass Festival in Sloatsburg acts as a popular big-tent event that attracts attention and visitors to the area. So, celebrate September next weekend and get out to the Great Lawn at Harmony Hall.
The 10th Annual Highlands Bluegrass Festival is sponsored by Rockland County Tourism and the Town of Ramapo. Harmony Hall is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is located between Harriman and Sterling Forest State Parks in the surrounding Ramapo Mountains.
