The Slaughter Stand-Up comedy celebration rolls into Characters Friday night for an evening of insults, agita and astute commentary.
With Sloatsburg as its home base of operations, the Slaughter comedy collective has increased it’s reach throughout the Lower Hudson Valley.
Started by Eric Albert and partner Dave Saitzyk, the group has produced popular monthly comedy shows at Character’s cozy upstairs room for two years now. The Friday, January 31, show marks the group’s official two year celebration and features Montay Mason as emcee, with performances by Rob Stats, Laz Vic, Nick Whitmar, and Mike Mone. The room should be fairly rocking as the comedy bill showcases some of the Hudson Valley’s exciting comedy voices.
There should also be a few surprise guests to spice the evening up.
The show starts at 9 p.m. in the upstairs room, costs $5 bucks, and also involves a two drink minimum. If you haven’t dropped in on a live comedy show lately, get over to Characters Bar and Restaurant for a good laugh.
Albert, a Sloatsburg native, saw Characters as the perfect partner for Slaughter Stand-Up’s plans to spread comedy all over the area. The effort worked as Slaughter has become a Hudson Valley comedy dynamo, both through booking comics and by putting on well-attended events.
“I feel like this building is my house,” Albert said about comedy nights at Characters.
