Enjoy A Saturday Morning Movie

Posted on 14 November 2013 by Editor

Saturday offers an opportunity to go out mid morning and get comfortable in a deep dark theater seat for the strange antics of Gloria Swanson in the classic movie Sunset Boulevard.

sunsetlafayettePart of the on-going Ramapo Film Festival, Sunset Boulevard plays Saturday, November 16, at 11:30 a.m. The mighty mighty Wurlitzer pre-film concert takes place at 11 a.m, featuring the talents of Jeffrey Barker.

When you’re finished digesting Sunset Boulevard, you just might need to find a cozy spot for lunch to unwind.

Paramount Studios has lent a hand and rolled out an excellent lineup for this year’s movie classic run. Rounding out the rest of the festival will be Raiders Of The Lost Ark on November 23,  Dream Girls on November 30, High Noon on December 7, and the holiday dystopian American nightmare, It’s A Wonderful Life come December 14 — talk about Potter’s world.

If you’ve never seen Sunset Boulevard, it’s a treat, with William Holden as jaded, lucked out screenwriter Joe Gillis, who falls for the good girl but is a kept man by an aging movie queen.

Can you say, off with his head. Movie director Billy Wilder was on his game with Sunset. The Joe Gillis role also launched Holden as a major Hollywood tough.

The Lafayette Theater is one of the stellar first run, single movie houses left in the country — and could use your support. Give it a try.
