Dear friends and neighbors,
As you may already know, I am seeking re-election for a second term as a member of the Ramapo Central School Board.
The past two years have been rich with great experiences, important decisions, along with challenging ones. My priority has been and continues to be first and foremost the children of our district.
I look to maintain a strong sound and challenging education for ALL students in Ramapo Central in a physically and mentally healthy and safe environment.
Both of my children have played 6 varsity sports and continued to enjoy playing a musical instrument from elementary school until their graduation from Suffern High. I have a great appreciation for the importance of athletics and the arts in the life of children and youth.
Due to my medical and public health background, I have represented the BOE on our District’s School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) since my election in 2014. I have also taken a strong stand on issues that directly affect the health of children, most recently regarding the replacement of turf fields at Suffern Middle School, that fortunately have been successful in putting the health of children and coaches as a priority helping shape the proposition on this year’s ballot.
In recent years, we have experienced great challenges namely cuts in public education funding, the excessive testing of children, aggressive mandates imposed on school teachers and administrators that we must work our way through, learn to adapt to and advocate to improve and repair when necessary. I have served since my election in 2014 on the Ramapo Central Board of Education’s Advocacy Committee as I strive to advocate for better funding, a focus on learning not testing, a fair and fulfilling education for all children and a fair and effective process to evaluate our teachers.
While our students are the first affected by our District policies and School Board votes, we cannot forget their impact on our community and our neighborhoods, especially when it comes to our property taxes, home values, quality of life and the success of local businesses.
It is for those reasons that I have decided to run for re-election this year in the hope to continue to serve our children and all members of our community.
I hope to earn and appreciate your support and would also welcome and encourage hearing your thoughts and concerns to serve you better and be a well informed Board member. I can be reached by cell, email or FB messaging. Please visit my Facebook page dedicated to RCSD and public education:
