Fast-moving cars approach the slow-moving construction trucks, at times quickly darting around them for any number of road reasons. Narrows misses are enough to make one sit up and grip the wheel. The water line construction is scheduled to last into January, with the current Pine Grove Lakes sewer construction phase also scheduled to end in mid-January.
J. Fletcher Creamer & Son, Inc. out of Hackensack, N.J. is also contracted for Western Ramapo Sewer asphalt paving on much of the current Sloatsburg sewer projects.
LoHud reportering team of James O’Rourke and photographer Peter Carr broke the bad news Friday that during high drive time at 5:40 p.m. a female driver traveling north near Sunnyside’s Bar and Grill collided with a Creamer backhoe bucket.
The driver and lone passenger of the SUV, reported to be Melissa Fierman from Tuxedo, sustained a serous head injury and was initially taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern — she was then transferred to Westchester Medical Center and listed in critical condition.
The Sloatsburg Fire Department responded to the incident.
Currently, Sloatsburg’s roads can get congested with all the construction, especially to the north of the village. Use caution.
