Summer comedy has come to Characters, so there shouldn’t be any complaining about laughing out loud at what someone just said.
The crew at Slaughter Stand-Up has used Characters in Sloatsburg, NY as a base for monthly comedy shows the past couple of years. The Slaughter Summer Showdown is the group’s summer comedy extravaganza – with round one running this week, Tuesday, June 17 and Thursday and Friday, June 19 and 20. This week’s shows are free and take place in Characters upstairs lounge.

There will be plenty to laugh at with a variety of material and comic styles on display as each night 16 different comics take the stage to compete in the Summer Showdown. The top four comics from each night advance to next week’s semi-finals round, scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, June 25 and 25. The final round will take place at Friday, June 28, comedy spectacular. Next week’s shows cost $5.
Monday night was the first night of Summer Showdown, where the four Slaughter winners were Nick Whitmer, John Trumbull, Natty Bumpercar, and Kevin Gootee.
Slaughter Stand-Up runs on the energy of its three founders, comedians Eric Albert, Dave Saitzyk, Dan DiMarino.
“Over the last two years we’ve been very fortunate to have great support in the local community as well as the opportunity to work with such great talent,” said Saitzyk.
