The Sloatsburg Fire Department will help see off the summer season Saturday with plenty of sunshine and a Classic Car Show all day at the village Community Fields.
The SFD has teamed up with the East Coast Rod and Custom Car Club to produce Saturday’s 3rd Annual Classic Car Show that will feature custom cars, food, a DJ, any number of contests or raffles, an assortment of other activities, and goodie bags for early arrivers. The custom car carnival is scheduled for all day Saturday, August 16, starting at 10 a.m. and running through 4 p.m. in Sloatsburg, NY.
Sloatsburg Fire Department Quartermaster Paul Paulson organized the first Car Show in 2012 to help raise funds for Amy Clifford, a Suffern high schooler fighting cancer at the time. Paulson got together with East Coast and put on a good show. Amy passed away mere months after the event at just 16 years old. Clifford and family recount some of that time at Friends of Amy Clifford.
The 2013 Classic Car Show helped raise funds for Sean Connell.
Paulson’s past partnerships with East Coast Rod and the Sloatsburg Fire Department have typically delivered a nice, lively show fun for the family and others looking something fun in the sunshine of hilly Western Ramapo. The Car Show charges $5 per spectator or thereabouts to get in while kids under 12 are free. No pre-registration is required for those custom car participants who want to slide into a spot at the show — but there is a $20 registration fee. The upside to that fee is your car hangs out with other cool cars all day while people check everything out. Registration time goes off from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. for all vehicles.
The 3rd Annual Classic Car Show takes place at the Sloatsburg Community Fields. The fine fall weather should hold for Saturday with plenty of August sunshine while evening temperatures dip into the mid 50s.
