Sloatsburg is one of the anchor communities in the Ramapo Central School District. The community has had a local school since before the Village was incorporated in 1929, with the old Sloatsburg Union Free School established in 1870 in operation until 1943, when the Sloatsburg Elementary School opened in its present location. Sloatsburg celebrated the end of the Sloatsburg Elementary School D.A.R.E. program Saturday with pasta and other good foods.
Sponsored by the The Friends of Sloatsburg School, and other private donations, the D.A.R.E. Spaghetti dinner took place in warm, cozy Church Hall at St. Joan of Arc Church. The dinner has become a traditional big finale to the Town of Ramapo Police Department 5th-grade student program – SES 5th-graders “graduated” from the program in January. Continue Reading

The New York State Conference of Mayors and Municipal Officials is holding an essay contest and want to know what you would do as Mayor. The Ramapo Central School District has a visit from Rockland County Jewish orthodox community agent Yossi Gestetner during a late June 2016 Ramapo Central school board meeting.
The Board of Education meeting was at the public comments portion, with part of the evening’s discussion focused on the district’s changes to its transportation policy for the upcoming 2016/17 school year. Continue Reading
