Look for the movie “Ben is Back” to set up in Sloatsburg’s village center on Thursday, January 11 and 18. The film stars Julia Roberts and Lucas Hedges and will use several locations in the Village.
Sloatsburg will see the spotlight shine near dark on Thursday, January 11, as the film Ben is Back starts shooting at the local Super Seven. Look for Julia Roberts to film a pivotal night scene for the independent production, which stars Roberts and Lucas Hedges. Sloatsburg Public Library Director Annmarie McAnany welcomed guests at the Valley Rock Inn December coat drive that benefited the Library.
Valley Rock Inn founder Michael Bruno approached the Sloatsburg Public Library about sponsoring some sort of library fundraiser. Both decided a winter coat drive during the Valley Rock Inn Festival of Lights weekend would be the perfect opportunity to reach a lot of the community. Continue Reading

Korean War veteran Richie Jarco was acknowledged for his service at a recent special Sloatsburg Village Board ceremony honoring veterans. Through Jarco’s efforts, Sloatsburg will host a veterans Holiday Food Basket on Saturday, December 16, from 9-11 a.m. Open to ALL veterans.
The Village of Sloatsburg recently celebrated veterans at a Village Board meeting. Richard Jarco was in attendance, with other veterans from across Rockland County, and Sloatsburg Mayor Carl Wright made special acknowledgement of Jarco, himself a Korean War army veteran. Continue Reading
