For many years now, the Sloatsburg Public Library’s bread and butter has been welcoming patrons into the library’s building, the historic former St. Francis Episcopal Church in the village center along Route 17. The Sloatsburg Food Pantry has quietly operated in the United Methodist Chapel along Route 17, serving the greater community week in and week out. But then the current crisis caused cascading events in peoples’ lives and suddenly the Food Pantry stepped up in Sloatsburg to meet a pressing demand. Continue Reading

A Sloatsburg municipal volunteer crew gave away some 1000 masks on May 1st at Village Hall. Members of the community drove up on a first come basis for a quick grab and go to receive a package of sealed, washable face masks. Continue Reading

The Sloatsburg Chamber got off to a running start a couple years ago. With members celebrating a new year, the Sloatsburg Chamber has already filled out its 2020 calendar that includes seasonal community events, a membership campaign and strategic partnership.
This past year saw the chamber find its footing, both organizationally and as a vital community voice. The chamber leadership team, including Barbara Berntsen, Susie McDonagh, Kathy Goldman, and Joyce Donohue, has worked with an engaged core of managing members to build up the chamber’s profile in Sloatsburg and beyond. The Friends of Harmony Hall continue to welcome the holiday season to Sloatsburg this Sunday, December 8, as it throws open its doors for an extended Victorian Holiday experience. Members of the Sloatsburg Chamber are busy putting the final touches on what is certain to be a colorful Fall Block Party this coming Sunday along Village Walk and the Commuter Lot. The October 6 event celebrates the changing season and also Sloatsburg itself — which will mark its 90th year as a Village this year. Residents voted to form a village on October 7, 1929.
