Suffern Takes Up Orange Avenue As Other Issues Simmer

Suffern Village Board meetings have lately become lively political theater with a dash of community confession. While Orange Avenue development project finally makes its way back onto the agenda at Monday night’s meeting, there are other, unresolved issues bubbling about under the Roberts-Rules-of-Order surface. The Cub Scouts of Tuxedo and Sloatsburg are cleaning up around here.

As part of the Keep Rockland Beautiful campaign, the scouts from Cub Scout Pack 46 cleaned up around the Sloatsburg municipal building and train station, picking up the trash that other folks discarded. Continue Reading

Sunday Fire Leaves Two Tuxedo Families Homeless

The Tuxedo mutual aid call went out to the Sloatsburg Fire Department just after 2 a.m. Sunday morning. A house fire on Schoolhouse Road, next to George F. Baker High School, had spread next door to a neighbor’s property and soon enough fire departments from the surrounding communities were on the call. The Sloatsburg Ambulance Corps also responded to the emergency. Continue Reading
