Another section of Sloatsburg sewer work is set to get underway as the Western Ramapo Sewer Extension Project rolls through the Village.
Rockland County Sewer District No. 1 will host a public informational meeting for Sloatsburg residents on Tuesday, February 2, at 7 p.m. at the Sloatsburg Municipal Building Fire Hall. The meeting will focus on the upcoming district sewer contract that includes Overlook Drive, Eagle Valley Road, Johnsontown Road, Hamilton Avenue, St. Joan Place, and grinder pumps. Continue Reading

Forecast uncertainty. That big weekend snow has been hard to figure out. The weather squall line is right along Rockland County.
At this moment… areas most likely to miss this storm entirely, would be anyone from Kingston, on northward. Those most likely to see some accumulating snowfall, would be anyone from I-84 on south.
But the critical point to take home from this afternoon’s update… is that a very small shift of the track (just 30 to 50 miles) would result in dramatic changes to the forecast for the Hudson Valley.

Sloatsburger and Suffern High School senior Kevin Jefferson just topped 1000 career points in a recent Mountie basketball win over Clarkstown South. Sloatsburg Mayor Carl Wright congratulated Jefferson’s winning effort, giving a bit of game night color commentary of the occasion in a letter to Sloatsburg Elementary School Principal Mr. Joseph Lloyd, present and past teachers, schools, staff, and students.

Soon now the biography room at the Sloatsburg Public Library will undergo a complete makeover. While adjusting a bare shelf Wednesday afternoon, Library Manager Annmarie McAnany discovered a book caught between the shelf and wall. The outline and texture of the book looked familiar, and McAnany disassembled the shelf to fish out the find.
Antoinette Louise Nattini “Ann” and sister Mary Carmela Nattini “Mary”, both seniors at Suffern High School in 1942. Mary Nattini looked over the newly discovered copy of her 1942 yearbook Wednesday afternoon at the Sloatsburg Senior Center.
What she discovered was a 1942 Suffern High School yearbook in very good condition called the Aremac (the name is an anagram). Continue Reading

NY/NJ Trail Conference volunteer crew worked all day recently to build stone steps at Sloatsburg’s Liberty Rock trailhead. Crew members included John Mack, Stephen Zubarik, Richard Lynch, Joan James, Noel Schulz, and Gay Mayer.
