The Clausland Mountain brush fire was finally contained and doused – with a little help from the weather.
A spark on a mountain in Blauvelt State Park turned into an aggressive fire that tested county resources and eventually turned into a showcase for the Rockland County rescue and response communities as they united and swiftly went to work on the Clausland Mountain rings of fire. Continue Reading

Sitting around the perfect size table for small people, Sloatsburg Elementary third grade teacher Francine DiGiacomo looked around and asked, “What does a good reader do?”

The end is finally in sight for the Rockland County Executive candidates’ long winding race. After nearly 20 years, the county will say a collective hello to a new leader Tuesday evening.
Tuesday, November 5 is Election Day. Sloatsburgers and those in Poll Districts 4, 15, 39, & 48 cast ballots at the Sloatsburg Municipal Building. Polling opens at 6 a.m. and closes at 9 p.m. Ramapo Central Schools are closed on Election Day.
