The Cub Scouts of Tuxedo and Sloatsburg are cleaning up around here.

As part of the Keep Rockland Beautiful campaign, the scouts from Cub Scout Pack 46 cleaned up around the Sloatsburg municipal building and train station, picking up the trash that other folks discarded. Continue Reading

Sunday Fire Leaves Two Tuxedo Families Homeless

The Tuxedo mutual aid call went out to the Sloatsburg Fire Department just after 2 a.m. Sunday morning. A house fire on Schoolhouse Road, next to George F. Baker High School, had spread next door to a neighbor’s property and soon enough fire departments from the surrounding communities were on the call. The Sloatsburg Ambulance Corps also responded to the emergency. Continue Reading

Darlington Schoolhouse Becomes Trail Conference Home

NY/NJ Trail Conference Executive Director Ed Goodell and Mahwah Mayor Bill Laforet cut the ribbon to open the organization's new headquarters at the renovated Darlington Schoolhouse.

NY/NJ Trail Conference Executive Director Ed Goodell and Mahwah Mayor Bill Laforet cut the ribbon to open the organization’s new headquarters at the renovated Darlington Schoolhouse.

The old fieldstone Darlington Schoolhouse used to teach Mahwah children, until the 1940s and $150 cost per pupil caused the Mahwah school district to abandon the building. Continue Reading
