Ramapo Police release photo of three young men related to late night Sloatsburg car fire

Updated: The Town of Ramapo Police are still actively investigating that suspicious Waldron Terrace midnight fire that took place in Sloatsburg, NY early Tuesday morning, June 21.

The Sloatsburg Fire Department was called to the scene of a burning car that included the body of a burned man. The man, later identified 48-year-old Oseen Lavaud, from Orange County. Continue Reading

Midnight car fire off Waldron Terrace in Sloatsburg kills a man, is under investigation

The Sloatsburg Volunteer Ambulance Corps arrived Tuesday morning to the scene on Waldron Terrace in Sloatsburg, where a dead body was found by a burned out car in the early morning hours.

The Sloatsburg Volunteer Ambulance Corps arrived Tuesday morning to the scene on Waldron Terrace in Sloatsburg, where near midnight the Sloatsburg Fire Department discovered a burned man (who died at the scene) by a car on fire.

The Town of Ramapo Police have called the midnight car fire at the end of Waldron Terrace in Sloatsburg “definitely suspicious.” Continue Reading

Longtime Sloatsburg resident George Heller went through Hell and back during his days fighting for the 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR) of the 101st Airborne Division during WWII.

Heller’s WWII adventure sounds like something out of Captain America — he participated in a few combat infantry air jumps but they all counted — one at Normandy before D-Day and one near Veghel for Operation Market Garden. And then, during the battle of the Bulge, Heller was hit by German counter-attack shrapnel and seriously wounded at Bastogne, France. Continue Reading
