The Robert and Mary McCready House on Route 17 in north Sloatsburg, also known as Westwind, was built in 1889 and is currently being restored to its former prominence by Edward Marse. The home is listed on the New York and National Registers of Historic Places, only the 3rd Sloatsburg residence to be listed.
Sloatsburger Ed Marse has nearly always had an interest in antiques and local history. Marse often visited the old Blue Barn Antiques while growing up, searching through the many valuables stored in the 70 foot long former livery barn on the Waldron property — currently under renovation by Michael Bruno and the Tuxedo Hudson Company. The Harriman Yellow Shuttle Bus is another step toward making the Tuxedo/Sloatsburg corridor at gateway to Harriman State Park. The shuttle kicks off another season starting Saturday and Sunday, May 21 and 22, and costs $5 per ride.

The Sloatsburg Community Fields has recently become an active production hub for local movie and other entertainment shoots.
Stretching like a small carnival street at the back of the Sloatsburg Community Fields is a series of non-descript trailers. SUVs and and vehicles come and go. Sloatsburg has become a regular production outpost for filming in Western Ramapo and Rockland County. Continue Reading

Dominick Ferrara, owner of Rocco’s Shoe Repair in Suffern, works his magic. The narrow store on Lafayette Avenue has been in business some 65 years.

The old Blue Barn property in Sloatsburg is set to change hands and become the French Resistance, a European-style coffee house and cafe, complete with gardens — a Michael Bruno and Tuxedo Hudson Company signature effort.
Edith and Henry Knoblick are longtime Sloatsburg residents who invested heavily in revitalizing Sloatsburg’s village center. Back in 2013 the couple purchased the old Waldron property directly across from the Sloatsburg Library with a vision that it could again serve as an important part of life and help spark some downtown renewal.
