November has arrived like a lamb, and it being a very good month, get out this weekend and enjoy the weather. Temperatures are expected to dip into the 20s at night soon.
It’s All Souls’ Day today, traditionally the day to visit those gone relatives at the cemetery in commemoration of the dearly departed.
The Tuxedo Farmers’ Market has extended it’s outdoor hours through November 23, which means all this month the market will be in season to service your weekend and holiday needs.
This week features Ol’ Darlin Soaps, and as you should know by now, leave them smelling sweet.
Also today, Saturday, November 2, the Village Of Suffern Recycling Committee will host a Not Just Battery Saturday. From 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Village Hall parking lot residents, and others, can take the opportunity to recycle some of those hard to dispose of items.
- All batteries – household batteries, car batteries, we take ’em all!
- CFL light bulbs — the squiggly kind, which can’t go in the garbage
- E-Waste – including old computer parts, stereo equipment, TVs, and small household appliances
- Medications – both prescription and over-the-counter, no questions asked
- Cell phones – will be donated to victims of domestic abuse and to active-duty military personnel serving overseas
The Greater Suffern Chamber of Commerce will host an on-site paper shredder operation for all those businesses and residents who would like to disappear documents in an environmentally friendly manner. Take the opportunity to clean up and clean out all those “things” that have been cluttering up your house and mind.
And Torne Valley Vineyards over yonder in the valley will host a Guitar Exhibition & Workshop Saturday night at 7 p.m. at the vineyard. The event is free and features a night of food, wine and guitars made by craftsman Bryant Trenier. There’ll be a selection of hand-picked, hand-made Trenier guitars, who follows in the rising popularity of cottage industry and craft workmanship. Trenier’s guitars are lovely and sound as good as they look. Visit Torne and play one yourself.
The evening will also involve music by New York guitarists Perry Beekman, Freddie Bryant and Pasquale Grasso.
Sunday will features a day for the crafty folk at the Eagle Valley Firehouse on Scott Mine Road in Tuxedo. Sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary, the Craft Fair is an opportunity to make an early dent on that holiday gift list.
