It’s Summer Solstice weekend and school’s officially out for the summer, too.

The Sloatsburg Community Pool regular summer hours begins Saturday, June 22, with the the pool staying open until 9 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Monday through Thursday the pool stays open until 8 p.m.

The Community Pool opens daily at noon during the summer.

Both Suffern Middle School and Suffern High School had graduation ceremonies Thursday. And Friday, June 21, marks the Summer Solstice and longest day of the year, with Sunday providing a Super Moon, when this month’s full moon will slide by close to the Earth, looking real like the giant orb it is.

TFM bagscolorThe Tuxedo Farmers’ Market will also be holding morning hours Saturday at the Tuxedo Train Station parking lot from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Catch a bit of sun and get your BBQ veggies while listening to local legend Dave Dowling. The market will offer some of that Precision Knife Sharpening you’ve come to enjoy as well.

If you’re heading into Suffern Saturday morning, take in the Suffern Farmers’ Market, which sets up shop in the Commuter Lot right at the end of Lafayette at the railroad tracks. The market is certain to have fresh coffee, produce and other goods.

Kick off the Solstice right with a Friday night of comedy at Characters during the Summer Showdown, presented by Slaughter Stand-Up. Show up at Characters in the upstairs lounge room at 8 p.m. for an evening of comedy competition. Admission is free.
