First it looks like a nice day out and then, suddenly, clouds and the threat of rain. But don’t let that stop you from getting out to the carnival.
St. Joan of Arc Church in Sloatsburg has pulled out all the stops with the reboot of its annual carnival at the Sloatsburg Community Fields, Friday through Sunday. Bring an umbrella and a pocketful of money and enjoy the rides — there are plenty of rides, from the thrill seeking and fast moving to little putt-putt bumper cars.
The food, fun and games is part of an effort by the Sloatsburg Catholic parish church to reach out to the community as well as raise funds. All proceeds for the event go St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Sloatsburg.
Sunday, June 30, the carnival will offer a ride all day wristband for $20. Otherwise, tickets for rides can be purchased onsite.
Summer Showdown
The end of the comedy road stops at Characters Bar and Restaurant Friday night, June 28, with the Summer Showdown finals, which get started at 9 p.m. Eric Albert himself, of Slaughter Stand-Up, will take the stage as host, with Jerrold Benford as special guest.
But the main attraction will be the Slaughterhouse 5, those comics who have made it through a nearly weeklong round robin comedy smack down and elimination process for a chance to take the big prize — two featured, headlining comedy gigs at a Hudson Valley club, one of which will be Characters.
Show support for both Characters and the folks at Slaughter by filling up the room.
And don’t forget, Saturday, June 29, both the Suffern and Tuxedo Farmers’ Markets will be open for business. Fresh produce, live entertainment and other goodies will vie for your attention. Get out and enjoy.
