Take in the sights and sounds of a wee bit of spring Saturday. Temperatures are expected to jump and the sun should shine. And that means there is no excuse not to get out to the Tuxedo Farmers’ Winter Market.
The 11th Annual Ramapo Winter Carnival takes place Saturday, March 8, from 11am to 4pm at the Joseph T. St. Lawrence Community Center in Torne Valley, and features inflatable rides for kids, DJ, games, crafts, and the second annual Rockland Boulders Winter Blast. And it’s free.
The market takes place from 11 a.m. through 2 p.m. at the Tuxedo Train Station and includes Bella Mozzarella, Pie Eyed Bar Pies, the Little Bake Shop, and Cornucopia Concept Caterers. Get your sauces, pastries, pies, cookies, and more. The market will take place rain or shine.
The George F. Baker High School production of Guys and Dolls originally scheduled for Friday, March 7, Saturday, March 8 and Sunday March 9 has been postponed and will be in rescheduled in the near future. For more information on ticket, call 845-351-4786 (x.2101).
Be sure to put a little music in your pre-St. Patrick’s Day celebration with music from the The Parting Glass Band. The band plays a great foot-tapping set Sunday, March 9, at the Sloatsburg Public Library, beginning at p.m. Experience some traditional folk music, with covers of the Clancy Brothers, Dubliners, and Wolfe Tones.
Between sets, the Friends of the Sloatsburg Library will host a tea and Irish soda bread interlude. There should be a few other sweets as well.
Lose a little sleep, gain more daylight in the evening. Be sure to set those clocks forward an hour before going to bed Sunday night. Monday morning begins Daylight Savings Time. Spring is inching closer.
